Four Decades for Justice
On November 8 and 9, 2012, two Cravath partners participated in the 44th Annual Securities Regulation Institute, presented by the Practising Law Institute and held in New York City. John W. White, Co-Chair of the Firm’s Corporate Governance and Board Advisory practice, moderated a panel discussion that included Jim Doty, Chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, and Paul Beswick, acting Chief Accountant at the SEC. This panel focused on audit committees, accounting issues in the IPO arena and the SEC’s role in accounting reviews. Julie A. North participated in a panel discussion entitled “Private Securities Litigation,” which discussed key considerations in evaluating and defending a securities class action, the limits of U.S. jurisdictional reach and the effective use of forensic accountants.
