Four Decades for Justice
On September 19 and 20, 2014, Cravath partner Michael L. Schler participated in the American Bar Association Section of Taxation and Section of Real Property, Trust & Real Estate Law, Trust & Estate Division Joint Fall CLE Meeting, held in Denver, Colorado. On the first day, Mike spoke on a panel entitled “Advanced Topics Under the Wash Sale Rules,” which examined the theory and practice of the wash sale rules as applied to derivatives and suggested approaches to implementing the underlying policy goals. On the second day, he also spoke on a panel entitled “Tax Opinions 3.0? ‑ Ethical Considerations and Best Practices Under the New Circular 230 Rules,” which focused on the recently finalized Circular 230 rules and their impact on the next generation of tax opinions, as well as other significant developments affecting tax opinion practice.
