Three Cravath partners participated in the International Bar Association’s 2014 Annual Conference, which was held October 19 ‑ 24, 2014, in Tokyo, Japan.
George F. Schoen spoke on a panel entitled “What Makes a Successful Corporate and M&A Lawyer?,” which examined the diverse skill set needed for corporate and M&A lawyers to succeed in this challenging area of practice. Philip A. Gelston spoke on a panel entitled “Structuring the Deal in the Light of BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting),” which explored the issues arising from the Organisation for Economic Co‑operation and Development’s (OECD) debate on equitable sharing of corporate income tax paid by multinational enterprises. Ting S. Chen spoke on a panel entitled “Recent Trends in Liabilities of Officers and Directors of Public and Private Corporations,” which discussed recent legal developments in common law and civil law jurisdictions that affect director and officer liability.
