Cravath | Richard W. Clary

Richard W. Clary is the Head of the Firm’s Litigation Department. Rich’s practice encompasses a wide range of litigation matters on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants at the trial and appellate levels, including securities, antitrust, patents (in the fields of biotech, computers, telephones and semiconductors), trade secrets, trademarks, and bankruptcies. Rich also handles international and domestic arbitrations.

Rich was born in Tarboro, North Carolina. He joined Cravath in 1980 and became a partner in 1985. He served as one of the Firm's Managing Partners from 1997 until 2005. Rich became the Head of the Litigation Department in 2005.
