Joel F. Herold is a partner in Cravath’s Corporate Department. His practice includes corporate finance, including structured finance, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate advisory. He was recognized by The Legal 500 for his skill in Structured Finance: derivatives and structured products in 2010 and 2011.
Mr. Herold represents corporations, investment banks and investment funds. His recent clients have included Banco Santander, Citigroup, Crown Castle, CSX, Olin, Cincinnati Bell, DRI Capital, DuPont, Magnesita, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse and GSO Capital Partners.
Notable recent transactions include representing Banco Santander in its acquisition of auto loans and the servicing businesses of Triad Financial, HSBC and Citigroup; Magnesita in its offering of high yield notes and a joint venture with Krosaki Harima; Crown Castle in offerings of asset backed notes secured by wireless communication tower revenues; DRI Capital in offerings of asset backed notes secured by pharmaceutical royalties; CSX in its receivables securitization and offerings of notes secured by locomotives and rail cars; Citigroup and its underwriters in connection with its offerings under Citigroup’s credit card securitization program; and Credit Suisse in leveraged sales of financial assets.
Mr. Herold was born in Milford, Connecticut. He received a B.A. from William & Mary in 1995 and a J.D. summa cum laude from The George Washington University Law School in 1998. Mr. Herold joined Cravath in 1998 and spent 18 months as an associate in Cravath’s London office. He became a partner in 2006.
