Cravath was at the forefront of restructuring transactions since they were first practiced. Today, Cravath’s lawyers draw on experience in some of the most challenging, cutting-edge restructuring cases and transactions, involving both Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court workouts in both domestic and cross-border matters. The Firm’s attorneys have substantial experience representing clients in connection with reorganization, restructuring and bankruptcy transactions, involving loan workouts, exchange and tender offers, bankruptcy litigation, distressed merger and acquisition transactions and preparation of Chapter 11 and restructuring plan documentation. The restructuring practice works together with the other practices in our Corporate Department and with our Litigation Department to provide complete, seamless representation in insolvency matters and draws on our deep understanding of the business dynamics involved in a restructuring.
Cravath’s restructuring team is led by partners Richard Levin and Paul Zumbro. Mr. Levin joined Cravath in 2007 as a partner and head of the restructuring practice. Throughout his career, he has been involved in some of the highest profile and most complex Chapter 11 and out-of-court restructuring matters, representing corporate debtors, creditors and acquirers in both domestic and international transactions. Mr. Zumbro’s restructuring practice focuses principally on representing secured creditors in complex in-court and out-of-court restructurings and draws on his extensive experience in leveraged finance. In addition to Mr. Levin and Mr. Zumbro, partners from each of the commercial banking, securities and mergers and acquisitions practices, as well as from the Litigation Department, are affiliated with the restructuring practice to provide their expertise and assistance to supplement the more specific bankruptcy and restructuring expertise resident in the practice area.
