Civil RICO
Cravath represents and advises clients on a broad range of issues arising under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (“RICO”). The Firm has had extensive experience litigating cases involving civil RICO claims, which can be particularly complicated because RICO applies to a broad range of conduct often occurring over an extended period of time and involving numerous people or entities. Acting as defense counsel, Cravath has won dismissal of RICO claims based on the pleadings, which typically allege underlying acts of mail, wire or securities fraud, and can be lengthy and complex. Cravath works cooperatively with co-defendants’ counsel in defending RICO suits, in an effort to ensure that its clients’ interests are advanced in a way that is both efficient and cost-effective.
