Cravath advises and represents clients on a wide range of copyright issues and has extensive experience representing content owners (including content owners in a variety of industries: publishers, record companies, programmers and choreographers), content distributors and others. Cravath has substantial experience in prosecuting and defending copyright infringement claims. Our copyright litigation practice is based on our experience and ability in complex commercial litigation at all stages of a case, from a motion to dismiss through discovery to trial. Cravath’s litigation success also comes from understanding the Firm’s professional clients and the nature of their work. In addition to our active litigation practice, we routinely advise clients on a variety of copyright issues, including potential copyright infringement issues, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) and renewal rights issues. We have deep experience advising clients on potential copyright issues related to new and emerging technologies, digital media and the Internet. We also regularly advise on potential copyright and other contractual issues in programming, recording and publishing contracts.
