Cravath partner David J. Kappos participated in the Summit on the Global Agenda, presented by the World Economic Forum on November 9 through 11, 2014, and held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
As Chairman of the Global Agenda Council on the Intellectual Property System for the World Economic Forum, Dave accepted the Global Agenda Council Vision Award for the Intellectual Property Council’s pro bono initiative. The initiative aims to make pro bono legal services available to innovators all over the world who have limited financial resources. The Vision Award recognized the Council on the Intellectual Property System for its breakthrough idea, bridging the gap between patent‑seeking innovators and their access to the marketplace.
According to the World Economic Forum, the awards recognize its Councils for breakthrough and forward‑looking ideas that focus on major challenges on the global, regional and industry agendas; vision, pragmatism and leadership; the execution of plans according to a set time horizon; and the participation of stakeholder communities in their implementation.
