Four Decades for Justice

Cravath counsel Evan Norris participated in the 15th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers Responsible for Sport, which was held on October 16, 2018 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Evan, the former Director of the U.S. Justice Department’s FIFA Task Force, addressed the delegates regarding one of the two themes of the biennial conference, “Fighting Corruption in Sport: Scaling Up Action,” which explored potential mechanisms to establish governance and anti‑corruption standards for international sports organizations. The conference was organized by the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport of the Council of Europe, and participants included ministers responsible for sport in the 47 member states of the Council, as well as representatives of international sports governing bodies and intergovernmental organizations. The following day, Evan addressed a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe’s Committee on Culture, Science, Education and Media, which was held on the margins of the conference and hosted by the Georgian Parliament.
