John Buretta Authors U.S. Chapter for The Legal 500 Bribery & Corruption Guide

June 11, 2019

Cravath partner John D. Buretta authored the United States chapter of The Legal 500’s 2019 “Bribery & Corruption Country Comparative Guide,” which provides readers with a pragmatic overview of bribery and corruption law across jurisdictions, addressing topics including regulation, compliance, liability and enforcement. John’s chapter summarizes the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) and explores, among other topics, the civil and criminal consequences of bribery, whistleblower protections and recent trends in enforcement of the FCPA. While serving as Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, John oversaw the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section and FCPA Unit, and supervised issuance of the DOJ‑SEC Resource Guide to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
