Four Decades for Justice
Cravath partner John D. Buretta was featured in a Q&A entitled “Strategies for Negotiating FCPA Settlements: An Interview with John Buretta, Cravath Partner and Former Deputy Assistant Attorney General,” which appeared in the August 6, 2014, issue of The FCPA Report. John was interviewed in connection with his experience developing the Resource Guide to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which was published by the DOJ and SEC during John’s time as Deputy Assistant Attorney General and later as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Chief of Staff supervising the nearly 600 prosecutors in the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. In the Q&A, John discusses the decision as to whether a company should self-disclose a potential FCPA violation and, if the company decides to self-disclose, how the company can communicate effectively with the government.
