MSD’s Investment in the Miami Marlins

On October 2, 2017, an ownership group led by Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter announced the completion of its $1.2 billion acquisition of the Miami Marlins, which included a preferred equity investment from an affiliate of MSD Partners, L.P. (“MSD”), the private investment arm of Michael S. Dell’s family office. Cravath represented MSD in connection with the preferred equity investment. Financial terms of MSD’s investment were not disclosed.

The Cravath team included associate Christopher J. Washington on corporate matters and partner Christopher K. Fargo on tax matters. Alexander E. Greenberg also worked on corporate matters.
