On December 19, 2018, Law360 identified the six “Top Antitrust Cases of 2018,” three of which featured Cravath as counsel to the defendants.
The highlighted cases include Ohio v. American Express Co., in which Cravath successfully represented American Express before the United States Supreme Court in an antitrust lawsuit originally brought by the DOJ and 17 state attorneys general challenging certain provisions in AmEx’s merchant agreements; U.S. v. AT&T Inc., in which Cravath secured a victory for Time Warner after a six‑week trial in an antitrust lawsuit filed by the DOJ seeking to block Time Warner’s $109 billion acquisition by AT&T; and Federal Trade Commission v. Qualcomm Inc., in which Cravath represents Qualcomm in litigation related to its patent licensing and modem chipset businesses.
Law360 identified these as some of “the major cases, and broader fights, that experts said had an impact on competition law in 2018.”
