Dave Kappos Authors Article on National Security and Intellectual Property Reform for the New York Law Journal

Cravath partner David J. Kappos and Irell & Manella partner Andrei Iancu, both former directors of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, co-authored an article entitled “U.S. Intellectual Property Is Critical to National Security,” which was published by the New York Law Journal on July 6, 2021. The article argues that reforms to intellectual property laws, including policies that incentivize and protect innovations in artificial intelligence technologies, are necessary for the United States to compete globally in rapidly developing AI and other emerging fields and to ensure its national security.
