Evan Chesler Featured as Litigator of the Week for AmEx Win in DOJ Antitrust Suit

On September 30, 2016, Cravath partner Evan R. Chesler was featured as “Litigator of the Week” in The Am Law Litigation Daily. The article featured Cravath’s representation of American Express Company in its winning appeal of a trial decision in an antitrust lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice and 17 state attorneys general over merchant acceptance rules, highlighting Evan for arguing AmEx’s appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. The Second Circuit’s decision, noted in the article as a “stinging reversal,” reversed the District Court’s determination that AmEx’s merchant acceptance rules violated federal antitrust law and remanded the case “with instructions to enter judgment in favor of Amex.”
