IBM’s Acquisition of Compose, Inc.

On July 23, 2015, IBM announced the acquisition of San Mateo, CA‑based Compose, Inc., a privately held company that provides MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and other database as a service (DBaaS) offerings targeted at web and mobile application developers. Cravath represented IBM in connection with this transaction. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The Cravath team included associate William D. Podurgiel on M&A matters; partner J. Leonard Teti II and associate Richard Bohm on tax matters; associate Aaron J. Feuer on executive compensation and benefits matters; and partner Matthew Morreale on environmental matters. Summer associate Nicholas M. Reichard also worked on M&A matters.
