Cravath’s London Office Moves to 100 Cheapside
February 28, 2022
On February 25, 2022, in celebration of Black History Month, Cravath hosted a conversation between litigation partner Helam Gebremariam and Dean Tomiko Brown-Nagin of the Harvard Radcliffe Institute about Brown-Nagin’s new book “Civil Rights Queen: Constance Baker Motley and the Struggle for Equality”. The pair discussed Motley’s trailblazing career as a civil rights lawyer, New York state politician, and the first Black woman appointed to the federal judiciary; the “double-edge sword” of being a Black first; and Motley’s lasting impact on the legal profession. Later that day, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson spoke of Motley’s indelible legacy and influence on her life in accepting her historic nomination as the first Black woman nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court.
