Dave Kappos Speaks at IPOS’s 2025 Global Forum on Intellectual Property

Cravath partner David J. Kappos participated in the 2025 Global Forum on Intellectual Property, IP Week @ SG 2025, which was hosted by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore from August 26–27, 2025 in Singapore. Dave spoke on two panels during the forum. The first, entitled “Greening with IP: From Trade Marks to Brands,” explored how trademarks and branding can support sustainability outcomes and addressed legal intricacies related to “going green,” including the risks of greenwashing, building responsible brands and navigating the associated legal landscape. The second panel, entitled “Beyond Battlegrounds: From Territorial Considerations to Strategic Forum Selection,” examined the strategic factors that influence forum selection in IP disputes and provided insights into the comparative advantages of mediation, arbitration and litigation, as well as the use of litigation insurance and third-party funding as tools for financial and risk management.

Benchmark Litigation Names Five Cravath Partners Among “Top 250 Women in Litigation” 

Cravath partners Christine A. Varney, Karin A. DeMasi, Rachel G. Skaistis, Lauren A. Moskowitz and Vanessa A. Lavely were recognized by Benchmark Litigation in the 2025 edition of the “Top 250 Women in Litigation,” which honors “the most distinguished women in the world of litigation.” Inclusion in the list is based on a review of individual litigators’ professional activities, client feedback surveys and one on one interviews. This is the twelfth consecutive year in which Christine has been selected for inclusion in the publication. Karin and Rachel are recognized for the eighth year, Lauren is recognized for the fifth year and Vanessa is recognized for the first year.

Cravath partners Helam Gebremariam, Sharonmoyee Goswami, Lauren R. Kennedy, David H. Korn, Lauren M. Rosenberg, Brittany L. Sukiennik and Michael J. Zaken were named by Benchmark Litigation to its 2025 “40 & Under List.” The list honors “the top emerging talent in litigation” and was compiled through a process involving peer and client review, along with examination of individual cases.

Scott Reents Speaks About AI in the Legal Field at Albany Law School’s Justice Infrastructure Summit

On August 5, 2025, Cravath of counsel Scott Reents participated in “The Justice Infrastructure Summit: Improving the Civil Legal Services Ecosystem to Increase Access to Justice,” hosted by Albany Law School and the IOLA Fund. The program, bringing together representatives from legal services organizations across the state, featured two days of in-person collaborative panels and roundtable discussions focused on state support, legal technology and cybersecurity, as well as intake and directory systems. Participants engaged with peers, shared strategies and contributed to the development of a coordinated statewide justice infrastructure. Scott spoke on a panel that explored the use of AI in the legal field.

Cravath partners Ting S. Chen and Aaron M. Gruber were named to Crain’s New York Business’s list of “Notable M&A Dealmakers,” published on August 11, 2025.  The feature recognizes individuals “shaping M&A in New York,” who “exemplify the vision and execution powering today’s dealmaking.” The list was compiled based on a review of nominations for individuals serving in a senior leadership role, demonstrating significant impact in their field, and making community contributions.

On July 24, 2025, Lawdragon announced the inclusion of 16 Cravath partners in its annual “Lawdragon 500 Leading Global Litigators” list, recognizing the lawyers “at the forefront of” a “massively growing field.” The list is assembled based on independent research, vetting by peers and a robust nomination process.

India Business Law Journal Names Cravath Among Significant Players of 2025 for India-Related Work

On July 24, 2025, the India Business Law Journal named Cravath among the “Significant Players” in its 2025 ranking of the top foreign law firms for India-related work. The publication highlighted the Firm’s representation of HDFC Bank Limited as U.S. counsel in its $40 billion merger with HDFC Limited, as well as the Firm’s representation of HMS Networks AB as special U.S. counsel in its acquisition of Red Lion Controls. The Firm was also praised by an interviewee for its consistent “quality of service.”

Ben Joseloff and Roberto Bruno Speak at 2025 GOP International Academy

On July 23, 2025, Cravath partner Benjamin G. Joseloff and European counsel Roberto Bruno participated in the 2025 GOP International Academy event “From Boardroom to Courtroom: International Trade and Business Law in Current Times,” which was hosted by international law firm Gianni & Origoni from July 21-25 in London. Ben and Roberto led a session entitled “The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and the Regulation of Foreign Direct Investment in the Second Trump Administration,” which reviewed recent developments in U.S. investment security policy. The GOP International Academy, which is supported by the Italian National Bar Council, the Italian Higher School of Advocacy, the Law Society of England and Wales and the Bar Council of England and Wales, provides professional development experiences designed for Italian lawyers, English solicitors, graduate students, trainees and holders of postgraduate diplomas.

Cravath partner Andrew T. Davis participated in “Basics of International Taxation 2025,” a program presented by the Practising Law Institute from July 22‑23 in New York. Andrew spoke on a panel entitled “Compliance with Minimum Taxes,” which discussed compliance with the OECD Pillar 2 rules and U.S. corporate alternative minimum tax (CAMT), including their impact on M&A transactions.

On July 16, 2025, Cravath partner and former White House and U.S. Department of the Treasury official Benjamin G. Joseloff testified before the Subcommittee on National Security, Illicit Finance, and International Financial Institutions of the United States House Committee on Financial Services. The hearing entitled “U.S. Policy on Investment Security” examined how the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (“CFIUS”) balances national security safeguards with maintaining an open investment environment.

Cravath partner Kimberley S. Drexler participated in the Society for Corporate Governance’s 2025 National Conference, which was held from July 9‑12, 2025 in Colorado Springs. The program, entitled “Elevating Governance,” addressed challenges facing governance leaders through a combination of panels, keynotes, fireside chats and interactive roundtable sessions on topics including the corporate environment, core governance practices, key governance moments and the regulatory landscape. Kimberley spoke on a panel entitled “Taking a Fresh Look at Committee Structures,” in which panelists examined current demands and challenges, as well as evolving best practices, for board committees.

On July 10, 2025, Cravath partner David J. Kappos delivered a guest lecture to students in the Master of Business and Science (“MBS”) program at Rutgers University, as part of the Fundamentals of Intellectual Property class. The course, designed to teach MBS students the practical and strategic foundations of intellectual property, including how to protect, evaluate, negotiate and commercialize IP assets across industries, features guest lectures from scientists, executives and patent attorneys who are experts in the IP field.

Gary Bornstein Named to Bloomberg Law’s Inaugural Unrivaled List

On June 25, 2025, Cravath partner Gary A. Bornstein was named to Bloomberg Law’s inaugural “Unrivaled” list, which recognizes 32 trial lawyers nationwide “who lead the legal profession in high-stakes and impactful trials and settlements.” The accompanying profile highlighted Gary’s representation of Epic Games in its successful antitrust litigation against Google, which has included victory in a jury trial determining Google engaged in anti-competitive behavior in the distribution of mobile apps and handling of in-app payments. Gary explained his trial strategy of “keeping it simple and letting the evidence speak for itself.” Gary also spoke about the importance of credibility in the courtroom, saying “judges and juries always spot inauthenticity, and they never forgive you when you breach their trust. We are advocates, but we cannot advocate effectively if our audience does not believe what we say.” Offering advice to young trial lawyers, Gary said: “Say yes. When opportunities arise, take them. Even if you think you’re not ready, grab the chance to learn. At the beginning of your career, every time you speak in court, you get better at it.”

Cravath partner Benjamin Gruenstein participated in “Compliance & Ethics Essentials 2025,” a program presented by the Practising Law Institute from June 26‑27 in New York. Ben co‑led a presentation entitled “Legal Ethics for Compliance Lawyers and Compliance Officers,” which explored the ethical obligations of in‑house lawyers and compliance professionals, including how companies should structure their ethics and compliance programs within their organization, how and when to maintain attorney‑client privilege during investigations and what to do when compliance officers and general counsels play competing roles in giving compliance advice.

On June 30, 2025, Cravath partner Korey Fevzi was named to Financial News’ “Fifty Most Influential Lawyers” list for 2025, which recognizes “senior lawyers in private practice in M&A, capital markets, financial regulation, and private markets across Europe, including the UK.” Honorees were selected through “extensive research,” considering candidates’ “influence in their respective fields, leadership within the sector, performance over the past year, and their potential to shape their businesses and/or the industry in the years ahead.”
