Jelena McWilliams Moderates SIFMA’s 2023 Basel III Endgame Roundtable

On July 12, 2023, Cravath partner Jelena McWilliams participated in the virtual SIFMA 2023 Basel III Endgame Roundtable. Jelena moderated a roundtable discussion entitled “A Review of Post‑Crisis Prudential Reforms and an Evaluation of the Basel III Endgame,” which examined post‑crisis bank regulatory reforms implemented over the last 15 years, the optimal level of capital in the banking system, the Basel III Endgame proposal and the potential impact of raising capital requirements significantly.

Jelena also moderated a session entitled “The Impacts of the Basel Endgame on End‑Users, the Capital Markets, and the U.S. Economy,” which examined the markets and products that could be particularly affected by the Endgame proposal; how the reforms could impact asset managers, insurers and corporate end‑users; and the effects these changes could have on liquidity in capital markets, financial stability and economic growth.
