Cravath’s London Office Moves to 100 Cheapside
On November 6, 2008, the Firm announced that John W. White, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Director of the Division of Corporation Finance, will rejoin the Firm in January of 2009. John will be working with the Firm’s Corporate Governance and Board Advisory Practice. He joined Cravath in 1975 and was named a partner in 1980.
Since joining the SEC in March 2006, John led one of the most significant and prolific rulemaking periods in the Division’s history. He guided the SEC’s accomplishments in several areas, including: implementing changes in executive and director compensation disclosure; improving Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 internal control requirements implementation; promoting comparability and utility of financial reporting; and exploiting technology across the agency’s rulemaking to increase transparency and facilitate investor communication. John also played an integral role in the SEC’s response to recent market events, ensuring that the Division acted swiftly and appropriately to facilitate strategic transactions and access to capital for public companies.
According to Cravath Presiding Partner Evan R. Chesler, John’s “exemplary leadership while at the SEC, coupled with the breadth and depth of his advisory experience, is uniquely suited to fit the needs of our clients in the current market environment.”
Celebrating 200 years of partnership. In 2019, we celebrated our bicentennial. Our history mirrors that of our nation. Integral to our story is our culture.
