The Wall Street Journal Reviews The Last Days of Night, Featuring Paul Cravath and His Role in the Advent of Electricity

August 17, 2016

On August 12, 2016, The Wall Street Journal published a book review entitled “The Epic Battle to Light Up America” covering author and Oscar‑winning screenwriter Graham Moore’s latest novel, The Last Days of Night. The book chronicles the historic legal battle between George Westinghouse and Thomas Edison over the right to produce the light bulb in the late 1880s. The story is told through the eyes of Paul Cravath, then a young law school graduate chosen to represent Westinghouse in the monumental dispute. In its review, The Wall Street Journal called the book a “legal thriller,” describing the storyline as a “fast‑paced tale about the litigation between the turn‑of‑the‑century inventors and their race to develop technologies.”
