U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Issues Report on Cybersecurity and Resiliency Practices

On January 29, 2020, Cravath published a memo entitled “U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Issues Report on Cybersecurity and Resiliency Practices,” which summarizes a report recently released by the SEC. The memo notes the report’s discussion of cybersecurity risks and how companies and organizations have responded, including in the areas of governance and risk management, monitoring user access, data loss prevention and incident response. Cravath’s memo concludes by encouraging clients to prioritize conducting and documenting a cybersecurity risk assessment as part of their regular compliance risk assessment, as cybersecurity is likely to remain a significant focus of U.S. authorities in the near term.
