On December 6, 2022, Cravath was recognized by the Financial Times in connection with its annual “North America Innovative Lawyers” report. In the “Practice of Law – Market Firsts” category, the Firm received “Standout” honors for its representation of Starz in a copyright infringement and breach of contract action against MGM Domestic Television. The Firm was also recognized among “Commended” honorees for its representation of Thermo Fisher in its $20.9 billion acquisition of PPD, Inc.
In the “Social Responsibility – Responsible Business” category, Cravath’s Incarcerated Survivors’ Initiative received “Standout” honors. The Incarcerated Survivors’ Initiative assists incarcerated survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence, including on matters related to resentencing, parole and civil rights violations, working in partnership with legal and social services organizations. The Financial Times noted that the Initiative, “a pro bono legal clinic,” has worked in “setting precedents in several cases since the establishment of New York’s Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act.”

April 15, 2021
On April 15, 2021, Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (“Thermo Fisher”), a leader in serving science, and PPD, Inc. (“PPD”), a leading provider of clinical research services to the pharma and biotech industry, announced that their boards of directors have approved a definitive agreement under which Thermo Fisher will acquire PPD for $47.50 per share for a total cash purchase price of $17.4 billion plus the assumption of approximately $3.5 billion of net debt. Cravath is representing Thermo Fisher in connection with the transaction.
