February 14, 2022
Cravath partners G.J. Ligelis Jr., Christopher K. Fargo, Alyssa K. Caples and Margaret T. Segall served as global editors and co‑authored the U.S. chapter of the second edition of Chambers “Investing In… 2022” Guide, which was published in January 2022. The guide, which is part of the publisher’s Global Practice Guide series, examines country‑specific legal issues that arise from foreign direct investment and cross‑border transactions in the 32 jurisdictions covered. The chapter authored by Cravath surveys the legal system and regulatory framework for foreign direct investment into the United States, analyzing the economic climate as well as considerations related to mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, capital markets, antitrust, national security, tax, employment, and intellectual property.
G.J. also authored the “Global Overview” for the guide, which introduces the purpose of the volume and outlines widely‑applicable developments in foreign direct investment, including consideration of escalating global trade tensions, the COVID‑19 pandemic, and increasingly stringent national security review regimes.
