David G. Ormsby retired from the Firm on December 31, 1996, and was named Senior Counsel in 2001. Mr. Ormsby’s practice consisted of underwritten public offerings, mergers and acquisitions and corporate advice to a number of the Firm’s major clients.

Mr. Ormsby was born in Buffalo, New York. He received a B.A. cum laude from Amherst College in 1955 and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1961. From 1955 to 1958, Mr. Ormsby was on active duty with the U.S. Air Force as a navigator in the Strategic Air Command. Mr. Ormsby joined Cravath in 1961 and became a partner in 1969.
