Madalyn G. Vaughn has a broad litigation practice, with a particular focus on antitrust, general commercial and securities matters.

Ms. Vaughn’s representative matters include:

  • Representation of Epic Systems, a large provider of health information technology, in several matters, including:
    • An action filed by Particle Health in New York federal court asserting monopolization, among other claims, arising out of alleged conduct in an alleged market for “payer platforms.”
    • An action filed by CureIS Healthcare in California federal court asserting various claims, including monopolization, tortious interference, false advertising and unfair competition, related to electronic health record software.
  • Representation of Truist Bank in patent infringement litigation brought by United Services Automobile Association (“USAA”) in Texas federal court concerning patents that relate to remote check deposits for mobile banking, and in associated inter partes review proceedings.
  • Representation of Qualcomm in several matters relating to the company’s patent licensing and chipset businesses, including:
    • A consolidated class action securities suit filed against Qualcomm and certain of its directors and officers in in California federal court in the wake of antitrust investigations and litigation concerning the company’s patent licensing and modem chipset businesses.  
    • An action filed by Apple in California federal court.  Following opening statements at trial, the parties reached a global settlement that includes a payment from Apple to Qualcomm; the companies also reached a six year license agreement and a multi-year chipset supply agreement.
    • A suit filed by the Federal Trade Commission in California federal court alleging violations of Section 5 of the FTC Act and seeking a permanent injunction against the company.  In a complete defense victory for Qualcomm, the Ninth Circuit unanimously reversed the district court’s prior judgment and vacated a permanent, worldwide injunction that had prohibited several of Qualcomm’s core business practices.  
  • Representation of Morgan Stanley in a series of individual and class action lawsuits in New York federal court alleging collusion among banks to restrain competition by preventing the development of anonymous exchange trading of various complex financial products, including interest rate swaps and stock loans.

Ms. Vaughn received a B.S. summa cum laude in Accounting from the University of Alabama in 2014 and a J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2017, where she was a senior editor for the Journal of Constitutional Law and was elected to the Order of the Coif.

Ms. Vaughn joined Cravath as a summer associate in 2016 and rejoined the legal staff as an associate from 2017 to 2023. She returned to the Firm as of counsel in 2024.
