External Outreach

Recognizing our role in the larger legal community, we work to support diversity in the legal profession as a whole.

Cravath was an original signer of the 1991 Statement of Minority Goals and is a signatory to the Statement of Diversity Principles adopted in 2004 by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. We are a strong supporter of City Bar initiatives. The Firm’s Diversity Manager is a member of the Bar’s Committee on Minorities in the Profession. We sponsor the Kate Stoneman Project and other collaborative efforts. Additionally, a number of our partners serve as board members and in other capacities for organizations that work to promote diversity in the legal profession and beyond.

The Firm’s pro bono work also demonstrates our commitment to diversity. We helped create, and continue to provide counsel to, both the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, the first Community Development Organization in the country, and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, a nonprofit organization that provides legal services to address racial discrimination. We also provide pro bono services to inMotion and Sanctuary for Families, two organizations that work to improve the lives of women.

We regularly sponsor many organizations that maintain a steadfast commitment to diversity. Several of these organizations are listed below.

  • ACLU LGBT & AIDS Project
  • Anti-Defamation League
  • Asian American Bar Association of New York
