Ben Gruenstein Speaks at PLI’s Compliance & Ethics Essentials 2020 Program

On June 30, 2020, Cravath partner Benjamin Gruenstein participated in “Compliance & Ethics Essentials 2020,” a program presented virtually by the Practising Law Institute. Ben delivered a presentation entitled “Ethics for Compliance Lawyers and Compliance Officers,” which discussed principles of investigations, components of attorney‑client privilege, whistleblowing and the duty to report evidence of a material violation.

IBM’s FCPA Enforcement Action Settlement
On March 18, 2011, Cravath client IBM announced that it has entered into an agreement to settle allegations made by the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”), that it violated the books and records and internal control provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Without admitting or denying the SEC’s allegations, IBM agreed to pay $10 million.
