Benchmark Litigation Names Cravath “Antitrust Firm of the Year” in its 2023 U.S. Awards

On March 15, 2023, Benchmark Litigation honored Cravath at the publication’s eleventh annual U.S. Awards, which was held in New York City in celebration of “the country’s most distinguished litigators and their firms for their exemplary work over the past twelve months.” The Firm was awarded Benchmark Litigation’s “Antitrust Firm of the Year” award, which recognized Cravath’s representation of clients, including Epic Games, Louis Dreyfus Company and Qualcomm.
Cravath was also shortlisted for “General Commercial Firm of the Year,” “New York Firm of the Year,” “Securities Firm of the Year” and “Trial Firm of the Year.” Partner Kevin J. Orsini was shortlisted for “General Commercial Litigator of the Year” and “Trial Lawyer of the Year.”

Louis Dreyfus Company and Imperial Sugar Company Secure Major Antitrust Victory Over DOJ
On September 23, 2022, the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware denied the U.S. Department of Justice’s request for an injunction blocking Louis Dreyfus Company LLC’s (“LDC”) sale of the assets and business of its subsidiary Imperial Sugar Company (“Imperial Sugar”) to U.S. Sugar. The District of Delaware’s decision in favor of the Defendants followed a four day trial in April 2022 and post-trial briefing submitted in May 2022.

Qualcomm Wins Vacatur of Class Certification Order on Appeal
On September 29, 2021, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled in favor of Cravath client Qualcomm Incorporated (“Qualcomm”), vacating a class certification order in Stromberg v. Qualcomm, a class action suit that is related to a prior antitrust suit brought against Qualcomm by the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”), FTC v. Qualcomm. The Stromberg plaintiffs brought antitrust claims against Qualcomm, and the formerly certified class included an estimated 250 million members in the U.S.
