Jeffrey A. Smith is the partner in charge of the Firm’s environmental practice group. Jeff’s practice encompasses environmental matters relating to financings, underwritings and mergers and acquisitions, nationally and internationally in all industries. Jeff also provides day-to-day counseling on environmental management, climate change and related corporate governance issues, environmental issues of interest to the SEC, shareholder relations involving environmental matters and environmental litigation.

Jeff frequently speaks and writes on environmental disclosure and corporate governance issues. Recently, he completed a three year term as Chairman of the ABA’s Special Committee on Environmental Disclosure.

Jeff was born in New York, New York. He joined Cravath in 1992 and became a partner in 1998. Jeff was the Firm’s Managing Partner for Administration from 2000 to 2005.
